Title:
IRON SULFIDES AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1996/037296
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Iron sulfides which are composed of, on the weight base, 85-100 % FeS2, 5-0 % Fe1-xS (x being 0 to 0.2), 5-0 % Fe3O4, and 10-0 % FeSO4 according to x-ray diffractometry and wherein the median diameter of the secondary particles formed of the primary particles with a particle diameter of 10-400 nm is 20-300 'mu'm in the volume-base cumulative distribution curve; and a process for producing iron sulfides by feeding iron sulfates (a) mainly comprising ferrous sulfate monohydrate with a d50 of 20-300 'mu'm and at least one sulfur compound (b) selected among powdery, molten and vaporous elementary sulfurs and hydrogen sulfide at least in an amount of reaction equivalent into the fluidized bed of a fluidized-bed firing furnace and conducting a fluidized-bed firing reaction at a temperature of 350 to below 630 C and a superficial velocity of 0.1m/s or above under atmospheric pressure or above by using the air for supplying the heat necessary for maintaining the reaction temperature by the combustion of sulfur as the fluidization gas.
