Abstract:
Provided is a laser oscillator (100) comprising a crystal (140) which is doped with a dopant and has a secondary optical non-linearity, and an optical system (130) that laser-oscillates the crystal (140) on which excitation light is incident. The crystal (140) has a phase matching property of one of birefringent phase matching, pseudo-phase matching using a periodic polarization reversal structure, and random phase matching using a polycrystalline structure, wherein fluorescence of a broad spectral bandwidth of a mid-infrared region is excited by the excitation light. The laser oscillator (100), due to the phase matching property, outputs idler light of a differential frequency of the excitation light and signal light that has been laser-oscillated by the optical system (130) at a specific wavelength or with a specific wavelength width in the spectral bandwidth.
