Abstract:

This invention pertains to a liquid-crystal display that uses: a specific liquid-crystal composition; and a color filter that contains an organic pigment having a specific particle-size distribution. This invention provides a liquid-crystal display that prevents decreases in the voltage holding ratio (VHR) of a liquid-crystal layer, prevents increases in ion density, and solves display problems such as white areas, alignment unevenness, and burn-in. Since this liquid-crystal display prevents decreases in the VHR of the liquid-crystal layer, prevents increases in ion density, and minimizes display problems such as burn-in, said liquid-crystal display is particularly useful as an active-matrix VA or PS-VA liquid-crystal display and can be used in an LCD television, a monitor, a mobile phone, a smartphone, or the like.
