Title:
LIQUID DETECTOR ARRAY FOR MEASURING IONISING RADIATION DOSE/FLUENCE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2005074351
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a liquid detector array for measuring ionising radiation dose/fluence. The inventive array comprises two printed circuit cards enclosing a sheet of non-polar liquid which acts as an ionising means. The thickness of the liquid sheet is provided by means of a spacer that is made from a suitable dielectric material. The drift plane is provided on the upper card, while the lower card takes the form of a multilayer card. According to the invention, one of the faces contains the anode which is segmented into a certain number of pixels, another face contains a conductor sheet which is used to shield the external electromagnetic field and the remaining faces contain tracks which convey the ionised charge towards one end of the array where they are connected to the read electronics either directly or by means of a suitably-shielded signal cable.
