Abstract:
This lock device for vehicles includes a base member, a latch, and a release lever. The base member has a base groove part into which a striker can be inserted. The latch has a latch groove part into which the striker can be inserted. The latch is capable of rotating between a lock position for fixing the striker between the latch and the base groove part, and an unlock position for releasing the striker from the base groove part. The release lever is capable of rotating between a lock release position which permits the rotation of the latch from the lock position to the unlock position, and a locking position for preventing the rotation of the latch from the lock position to the unlock position. The release lever has an engagement release member that comes into contact with the latch in the process of rotating from the locking position to the lock release position, thereby causing the latch to rotate from the lock position toward the unlock position.
