Abstract:
A low residual voltage surge protection circuit automatically switching between a series connection and parallel connection. The circuit has three components, A, B, and C, connected in series. For the three components A, B, and C, the circuit can have: (1) the three series-connected components A, B, and C being varistors having same properties; (2) components at two ends A and C in the three series-connected components A, B, and C being varistors having same properties, while the middle component B being a linear resistor, capacitor, or inductor; or (3) components at two ends A and C in the three series-connected components A, B, and C being varistors having same properties, while the middle component B being a varistor having properties different from those of the end components A and C. Both the series-connected group having the components A and B and the series-connected group having the components B and C in the series connection circuit of the components A, B, and C are parallel-connected to a component having properties of a voltage switch. The technical solution of the present invention can significantly reduce the residual voltage of a surge protection device.
