Abstract:
This machine tool comprises: an image capturing unit that captures an image of a tool in a predetermined image capturing area; a tool holding unit capable of holding the tool in the image capturing area; a shutter that is installed between a machining area in which machining is executed by the tool and the image capturing area, and that is movable between an open state and a closed state; a cover that covers a light receiving surface of the image capturing unit; and a purging mechanism that performs purging by causing a fluid to flow between the light receiving surface of the image capturing unit and the cover, wherein, (i) after purging is performed by the purging mechanism, (ii) the shutter is moved, and (iii) the cover is moved after the movement of the shutter is started.
