Provided is a magnetic tape fixing device for an elevator, the magnetic tape fixing device being capable of restraining a magnetic tape in a hoistway without requiring a movable mechanical structure. The magnetic tape fixing device for an elevator fixes a middle portion of the magnetic tape suspended in the hoistway. Magnetic tape (10) has a hard magnetic body where magnetic poles are formed in a preset first arrangement along the ascending/descending direction of an elevator car, and the arrangement of the magnetic poles of the hard magnetic body is read from a preset reading side by a reading device (30) provided in the elevator car. A magnetic tape fixing device (100) comprises: a base part (101) disposed on a side opposite the reading side of the magnetic tape in the hoistway and fixed to a wall surface of the hoistway; and a magnet part (102) provided on the base part and having magnetic poles formed in a preset second arrangement along the ascending/descending direction. Magnetic force emitted from the magnet part attracts a surface, of the magnetic tape, on the side opposite the reading side.
