In a magnetoresistance device (100) according to one aspect, when expressed in a stoichiometric composition ratio, a metal oxide constituting a metal oxide layer (4) has a higher oxygen proportion than the sum of proportions of metal elements in the composition formula, and the metal oxide layer (4) has a lower resistivity than a tunnel barrier layer (3).
