Description:
Description

Manual mechanism for back hygiene

Invention Field

This invention is a back washing and/or massaging mechanism or can be used in another area of the body with difficult accessibility (for instance legs, in the case of someone with back problems (Fig. 8). Fixed on one of the shower or bathtub walls, the user can attach the desired accessories (6) to the docking plate (1 ). Because the accessories (6) are removable they make the mechanism versatile in any functions intended, for instance scrub, exfoliate, massage, among others. After selecting and applying the desired accessory (6) the user leans the intended body part against the mechanism and though the handles (3) applies vertical or horizontal movement, transferring this movement to the docking plate (Fig. 6) (Fig. 7) which in turn applies it to the desired part of the body.

Background on the invention

Throughout the years there have been many efforts toward developing hygiene devices, that will allow people to, individually and efficiently, wash parts of the body that are difficult to reach, namely the back. The most common are back brushes and back scrubbers with 2 straps which do not incorporate the structural characteristics and the functional capabilities of the present invention, for example patents US2807815, US2363697, US2671919, US3720205, US3085276. The second most common group are the fixed, where people, per movement of the body and/or displacement of the fixation point of the device, select the area to clean, in example patents US4704759, US4696068, US2901760. One of the biggest problems of these patents is the matter of safety, because we are talking about areas where the users are barefoot, on flat and wet surfaces, where many movements need to be avoided for matters of balance. This invention allows the user to maintain a vertical posture, fully balanced, where the simple arm movement executes the desired effect. In the third most common group are the electrical and water moved mechanisms, in example patents US20030167565, US4008503, US8621679, US5345640, complexity is not always an advantage, throughout the years the simpler and most effective process for body sanitation has been through use of one's own limbs, however, these sometimes have difficulty reaching to certain areas of the body efficiently, namely the back, thus the need to create a mechanism that is practical, simple and efficient, as is the present invention.

75

The present invention is composed of one or more docking plates (1 ), which are fixed to one or more handles (3).

• The docking plate (1 ) is the base where accessories (6) are applied to, examples, an exfoliation cloth, a wheel system for massage, among other accessories the 80 user my want to benefit from. The user may also want to apply a different accessory (6) to each plate, benefiting from more than one effect at a time.

The tab slots (5) are fixed on the docking plate (1 ), their function is to guide the plate vertically, over the sliding bars (2.2).

The fixation bracket (2), has four functions, to attach the mechanism to the wall or to the 85 horizontal fixation bracket (4), to serve as a guide to the docking plate (1 ), to limit the movement of the docking plate (1 ), and also as a support bar so the user can hold on to it. The fixation bracket (2) is composed by, fixation points (2.1 ) to the wall or to the horizontal fixation bracket (4) and sliding bars (2.2).

When the fixation bracket (2) is fixed directly on the wall, the mechanism only allows 90 vertical movements, when it is fixed to the horizontal fixation bracket, it allows the user to move the docking plate vertically and horizontally (Fig. 7).

The handles (3) give the docking plate (1 ) the vertical and horizontal movements, applied by the user's hands and arms. The handles are movable, allowing them to be put away toward the wall when the mechanism is not in use, so as not to interfere with the bathing 95 area (Fig. 10).

The manual mechanism for back hygiene works in the following way: the user keeps the desired part of the body still and touching the accessory or accessories (6) applied to the docking plate or plates (1 ), holds the handle or handles (3) with one or both hands and 100 applies ascending and descending movements, making the docking plate slide over the sliding bars (2.2). The user may also apply lateral movements with hands and arms, making the ensemble of docking plate and fixation bracket slide over the horizontal fixation bracket (4).
