Description:
A MATTE GLASS PRODUCTION SYSTEM AND METHOD

Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a matte glass system and method which is used in the home appliance industry (oven, refrigerator, bottle coolers, combi boiler, built-in goods, hood etc.) and enables to obtain a glass with matte effect by means of the applied method.

State of the Art

Today, delustering process in glasses is carried out with an acid fall, but the quality problems, that occur in this process, cause point acid infiltration on the transparent surface of the glass. A frosted image is captured on the glass with dual printing enamel paint, but the glasses have to be double-tempered (temper after each printing) since it has to be double-sided printing. This situation is not suitable for the process flow. Doublesided printing can be carried out with cold printing. Since cold printing tempering is not necessary, the desired image can be created but there is a possibility that the print will come off if the glass is cleaned since the scratch and chemical resistance thereof is low.

In the patent application document numbered TR2005/00461 in the state of the art, translucent matte glass and production method thereof are explained. The method described in the relevant application document is completely different from the invention that is the subject of this specification.

As a result, due to the abovementioned disadvantages and the insufficiency of the current solutions regarding the subject matter, a development is required to be made in the relevant technical field.

Aim of the Invention

The invention aims to solve the abovementioned disadvantages by being inspired from the current conditions.

The aim of the present invention is to obtain a matte glass system and method which is used in the home appliance industry (oven, refrigerator, bottle coolers, combi boiler, built- in goods, hood etc.) and enables to obtain a glass with matte effect by means of the applied method.

An aim of the present invention is to prevent acid infiltrations that are formed on the transparent surface of the glass during acid fall which is one of the currently used applications.

Another aim of the present invention is to ensure that the double tempering problem in dual printing is made suitable for the process flow as a single tempering.

Another aim of the present invention is to eliminate the scratching and low chemical resistance that occur in cold printing.

The surface of the glass is matted by using icing paste in the system and method. This paste which is like a paint, is applied to the glass and after a certain period of time, it is washed and removed from the glass. This applied paste (cream) wears the glass within a certain time and creates a frosted glass appearance.

Detailed Description of the Invention

In this detailed description, the preferred embodiments of the inventive system (1 ) and method is described by means of examples only for clarifying the subject matter.

The present invention relates to a matte glass system (1 ) and method which is used in the home appliance industry (oven, refrigerator, bottle coolers, combi boiler, built-in goods, hood etc.) and enables to obtain a glass with matte effect by means of the applied method.

The surface of the glass is matted using icing paste in the system (1 ) and method. This paste which is like a paint, is applied to the glass and after a certain period of time, it is washed and removed from the glass. This applied paste (cream) wears the glass within a certain time and creates a frosted glass appearance.

The inventive system (1 ) comprises the following;

❖ cutting unit (2), which enables the glass to be cut to the desired dimensions,

❖ grinding unit (3), which applies the grinding process to the cut glass edges and thus makes the glass edges not to cut the hands of the people,

❖ perforating unit (4) which makes holes for the product to be mounted onto the glass,

❖ washing/drying unit (5), which enables the cream paint applied to the front surface of the glass to be washed and dried,

❖ enamel printing unit (6) that applies enamel silk printing in the desired color to the glass coming out of the drying process, from the opposite surface of the delustering process

❖ tempering unit (7), which bakes the glass to increase its resistance to heat and impact, and cream printing unit (8) which performs silk printing on the glass by applying cream paint on one surface of the glass so as to make the glass surface dull. The cutting unit (2) cuts large glass panels into desired dimensions without human touch. Then the cut glass is broken by the operators and given to the line.

The grinding unit (3) grinds the four sides of the glass so that the edges of the broken glasses do not cut the hands.

The perforating unit (4) makes holes on the glass in the desired amount and size for the product to be mounted onto the glass after the grinding process.

The washing/drying unit (5) washes the glass surface on which the cream is printed and ensures the glass to be dried.

Enamel printing unit (6) applies enamel silk printing in the desired color to the glass coming out of the drying process, from the opposite surface of the delustering process

Tempering unit (7) applies a baking process to the glass with a temperature of 600- 6500 (temperature varies according to the type of glass) so as to increase its resistance to heat and impact.

Cream printing unit (8) makes silk printing on the glass by using cream paint on the desired glass surface so as to obtain matte glasses coming out of the hole process.

The cream printing unit (8) makes silk printing on glass by applying cream paint on one surface of the glass after the tempering process performed by means of tempering unit (7), in an embodiment of the invention (Figure 1 ).

The cream printing unit (8) makes silk printing on glass by applying cream paint on one surface of the glass before the tempering process performed by means of tempering unit (7), in an embodiment of the invention (Figure 2).

The system (1 ) provides the following advantages;

❖ preventing acid infiltrations that are formed on the transparent surface of the glass during acid fall which is one of the currently used applications,

❖ ensuring that the double tempering problem in dual printing is made suitable for the process flow as a single tempering, eliminating the scratching and low chemical resistance that occur in cold printing. Tests are carried out with many different parameters depending on the new method in the system (1 ).

Some of these parameters are as follows:

❖ the density of the cream to be used,

❖ single or dual printing of the cream,

❖ T values of silks to be used in printing,

❖ the temperatures of the ovens in which they are put to dry after printing and

❖ how many minutes the glass will stay in the oven.

Many criteria such as the degree of wear on the glasses, texture feel, gloss are tested and specifications are created in these applications. Then, feasibility studies are carried out for mass production.

The inventive method comprises the following process steps in one embodiment of the invention;

❖ cutting the glass to the desired dimensions by means of the cutting unit (2),

❖ applying grinding process to the cut glass edges and thus making the glass edges not to cut the hands of the people by means of the grinding unit (3),

❖ making holes for the product to be mounted onto the glass by means of the perforating unit (4)

❖ performing silk printing on the glass by applying cream paint on one surface of the glass so as to make the glass surface dull and to obtain matte glass with silicone texture by means of the cream printing unit (8),

❖ washing and drying the cream paint applied to the front surface of the glass by means of the washing/drying unit (5), applying enamel silk printing in the desired color to the glass coming out of the drying process, from the opposite surface of the delustering process by means of the enamel printing unit (6) and applying baking process to the glass to increase its resistance to heat and impact by means of the tempering unit (7).

The inventive method comprises the following process steps in another embodiment of the invention;

❖ applying enamel silk printing in the desired color to the glass coming out of the drying process, from the opposite surface of the delustering process by means of the enamel printing unit (6),

❖ applying baking process to the glass to increase its resistance to heat and impact by means of the tempering unit (7)

❖ performing silk printing on the glass by applying cream paint on one surface of the glass so as to make the glass surface dull and to obtain matte glass with silicone texture by means of the cream printing unit (8) and

❖ washing and drying the cream paint applied to the front surface of the glass by means of the washing/drying unit (5).

In the inventive system (1 ) and method, the cream printing unit (8) adds diluent into the cream paint until it has the desired viscosity and heats it so as to obtain a fluid paint. The cream printing unit (8) prints cream paint on the glass using a T-valued silk hoop between 120T and 34T. The glass, which is printed with cream paint, passes through drying by means of the washing/drying unit (5) and is kept for a minimum of 2, a maximum of 15 minutes (the glass will be worn within the expected time) Then, the glass is washed by means of the washing/drying unit (5). In this way, tempered glass with a partially worn silicon and velvety texture is formed.
