Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a media processing device that detects free storage space provided in a cassette with higher accuracy and that is more widely applicable. [Solution] Provided is a media processing device comprising: a media storage cassette including a media storage space that stores media and a partition plate that partitions the media storage space into a lower storage unit and an upper storage unit and that is provided in a movable manner in a vertical direction in a specified movable range within the media storage space; a transfer unit that transfers media to the media storage cassette; a partition plate position detection sensor that detects a position of the partition plate in the vertical direction; and a control unit that controls the partition plate, the partition plate position detection sensor, and the transfer unit. After issuing an instruction to move the partition plate to a lowermost end of the movable region, the control unit determines whether there is free space for storing the media in the lower storage unit on the basis of the position of the partition plate in the vertical direction after being moved, the position being detected by the partition plate position detection sensor.
