Abstract:
Disclosed is a media separating and stacking mechanism which prevents faulty stacking of media by preventing collisions between media when storing media that have caused a conveyance error. In the return processing of media for which conveyance error has occurred, the disclosed media separating and stacking mechanism raises a tongue roller and inserts the tongue into a storage unit and then reverses a feed roller and conveys the error-causing media toward the storage unit, and thereafter, stops the feed roller with a prescribed timing, stops conveyance of the error-causing media, and then allows the tongue roller to retreat from the storage unit. This series of operations is repeated until all of the error-causing media are stacked in the storage unit.
