Abstract:
The present invention provides a membrane defect inspection method, which is capable of automation of filtration membrane rupture detection and can appropriately detect the presence of membrane module ruptures and/or seal failures. This membrane defect inspection method is for a membrane module set in which multiple membrane modules are connected in parallel below a gas detection tubing that is in communication with first-side spaces of the membrane modules to which raw water is supplied or second-side spaces of the membrane modules from which treated water, which is raw water that has been membrane-filtered, is extracted. The method comprises: a gas injection step for injecting, when the gas detection tubing is full of water, gas into the spaces of the membrane modules opposite the first-side spaces or second-side spaces that are in communication with the gas detection tubing; and a vibration detection step for detecting vibrations of the gas detection tubing as a result of the gas detection tubing having a protruding part that protrudes outward and a vibration sensor being brought into contact with said protruding part.
