Abstract:
This membrane-electrode assembly comprises a polymer electrolyte membrane, an anode, and a cathode. The anode includes an anode catalyst layer, and the cathode includes a cathode catalyst layer. The anode catalyst layer is disposed on a first main surface of the polymer electrolyte membrane, and the cathode catalyst layer is disposed on a second main surface of the polymer electrolyte membrane. The anode catalyst layer includes a catalyst material, an electroconductive material, and a hydrocarbon polymer catalyst. The hydrocarbon polymer catalyst includes a hydrophilic segment and a hydrophobic segment. The hydrophilic segment has a sulfonic acid group, where the main chain is mainly constituted of an aromatic ring, and the hydrophobic segment includes an aromatic ring.
