Provided is a metal complex having excellent light emission stability. The metal complex is represented by formula (1). [In formula (1), M represents an iridium atom or the like. n1 represents an integer from 1-3. n2 represents an integer from 0-2. E2-E4 each represent a nitrogen atom or a carbon atom. However, two selected from among E2-E4 are nitrogen atoms, and the remaining one is a carbon atom. R1 represents an aryl group or the like. R2 and R3 each represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, or the like. Ring B represents a triazole ring. Ring A represents an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or the like. A1-G1-A2 represents an anionic bidentate ligand.]
