Abstract:
A method of a LiDAR system(100) to determine the distance of an object(150) from the LiDAR system(100). The LiDAR system(100) can use a coarse estimate of the distance of an object(150) from the LiDAR system(100) which is then used by a fast search to determine an estimate of the distance of an object(150) from the LiDAR system(100) within a precision threshold. The LiDAR system(100) can use adaptive precision when determining the distance of an object(150) from the LiDAR system(100).
