Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for manipulating a tiny object, the method comprising: providing one or more charged particle beams; forming one or more non-uniform charge distributions in a fluid medium, wherein the one or more non-uniform charge distributions apply one or more gradient forces to one or more portions of a tiny object; and controlling one or more of the one or more gradient forces to change the motion state of the tiny object. The present invention extends manipulation to the nanometer dimension, and can be applied to various microscopic tiny objects such as conductors, non-conductors, and living or non-living biological cells or organelles, and therefore surely promotes great progress in the fields of physics, chemistry, biology and medicine.
