Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for machining metal workpieces (2) by means of a laser beam (3) of a laser machine tool (1) with a laser beam power of at least 10 kW, wherein the laser machining is controlled by a tool controller (10) by means of at least one laser machining parameter, the parameter value of which can be manually entered. According to the invention, an input value manually entered for the at least one laser machining parameter is checked by the tool controller (10) as to whether damage to the laser machine tool (1) by the laser beam (3) is to be expected for laser machining using this input value. If no damage is to be expected, the input value is adopted by the tool controller (10) as a new parameter value of the laser machining parameter.
