Description:
METHOD AND COMPUTER IMPLEMENTED SYSTEM FOR PLAYING THREE- CARD GAME [3 CARD POKER] This application claims benefit of Indian application number IN 202211054669 filed on 20 th September, 2022 FIELD OF THE INVENTION [0001] The present invention relates to online cards games, and specifically to a three- card game of poker. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [0002] Traditional card games are played with a deck or pack of playing cards that are identical in size and shape. [0003] These cards games have now also gained popularity on the internet and there are several card games where players participate in the games and win the prizes. [0004] One of such card games is the Poker card game and its variants. In one such variant of Poker, the game is initiated by betting some amount called “ante” and then three cards face down are dealt to each player followed by multiple betting rounds. [0005] However, the dealing of the cards and outcome of the available three card games, which are critical components in gameplay of the player specially, is based on chance. Therefore, the available method of playing the card games may not allow the players to bet strategically in the game. [0006] Further, in the existing games there may be lesser demonstration of skill in games as, win or loss or strategy of a player may be dependent on the use of random cards generated by chance. The inventors of the present invention described herein identify this particular aspect as a big problem in such games. [0007] One such invention which is a chance-based card game is disclosed in United States granted Patent No. 10109155. [0008] In the said 155’ patent, the players are not eliminated if they are out of money rather, they remain in the game and prizes are then awarded to players based on their scores at the end of the game. [0009] Another invention which is a wager-based card game is disclosed in United States granted Patent No. U7736221. [0010] In the said 221’ patent, simply, a portion of each pot is set aside. When several online players are involved, the player who makes the best selections wins this pot. [0011] However, in the prior arts, there is no provision in which the players may play strategically. [0012] Specifically, there is no such game wherein the players are allowed to bet without having an amount/tokens/coins in a wallet. [0013] Further, there is no provision in which the players have a higher level of probability of having a good hand. [0014] Therefore, there is a need for a computer-implemented method and a system for developing card games in which the players are allowed to bet without having the required amount/tokens/coins in the wallet. [0015] Further, there is a need for a computer-implemented method and a system for developing card games wherein the players have a higher level of probability to have a good hand. [0016] Furthermore, there is a need for a computer-implemented method and system for developing card games on the online platform with more interactive features like minimizing the betting amount needed for blind raising. [0017] Also, there is a need for a computer-implemented method and a system for playing card games in which a betting system is improvised, thereby allowing the players to use their skills while betting to win the pot. [0018] In addition, there is a need for a computer-implemented method and a system for developing card games in which the players are allowed to re-buy the amount during the ongoing game. [0019] In a nutshell, a computer-implemented method and a system for playing card games is required which may overcome the above-discussed drawbacks and provide an easy and skill-oriented way of playing the said games. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0020] The present invention discloses a computer-implemented method and computer implemented system [gaming system and method or game] of playing three card game, wherein players sit on a gaming table with a wallet and play the hand dealt to the players. [0021] In an embodiment of the present invention, the computer-implemented method and gaming system uses a standard virtual 52-card pack (without jokers) with aces high and 2s low. [0022] In the embodiment of the present invention, the said system includes a computing device installed with a game application to play three-card game. [0023] In the embodiment of the present invention, the said gaming system and method may also be played over a game website. [0024] The gaming system and method involve allowing the players to register in the said application via a registration module of the said application. Further, the gaming system and method involve allowing players to join the table. [0025] Further, the gaming system and method involve execution of an instruction by a processing module for the creation of a unique Hand identification (ID) for each player. [0026] In one embodiment of the present invention, a slider is provided which allows the players to choose the amount to sit on the table with. [0027] The gaming system and method further involve executing an instruction by the processing module to collect an ante amount from each of the plurality of players to start the game. [0028] In one embodiment of the present invention, antes are posted, and all players are dealt three cards each face down. [0029] In an embodiment of the present invention, the game starts with the player sitting beside a dealer. [0030] In an embodiment of the present invention, the game will move anti-clockwise starting from the person right of the dealer. [0031] In one embodiment of the present invention, the gaming system and method involve allowing the players to bet in the game for their cards. [0032] In the embodiment of the present invention, the players have the option (should they wish to exercise) to continue playing blind. [0033] Further, there is no limit to the no. of blind bets the user can play. [0034] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the players may see one card as randomly one out of the 3 cards and still be considered playing blind. [0035] In an embodiment of the present invention, betting will follow a no-limit betting style. [0036] In an embodiment of the present invention, the players are allowed to see their cards or will be shown their cards once blind is no longer an option. [0037] In various embodiments of the present invention, minimum bet starts with the ante amount and will always be the last bet amount. [0038] In an embodiment of the present invention, in the gaming system and method, once the round with everyone playing the last raised bet, three community cards are opened. [0039] Once the community cards open, the betting resumes with the player who played the last raised bet. Herein, all players are automatically deemed seen and blind rounds are over. [0040] Thereafter, the player can call/match the previous bet by playing that exact same amount, regardless of their previous contributions to the pot and the previously bet amount is not added while matching/calling a bet. [0041] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the player may raise by paying 1.5 time (1.5 x), the previously bet amount or any amount higher than that up till the total in-game chip stack of the player. [0042] In one embodiment of the present invention, after each hand, the amount in the wallet is checked. [0043] In the embodiment of the present invention, if the player has lower than the required amount, the player may or may not be asked to rebuy the amount in order to continue playing the game and is made to auto sit out until he/she does so. [0044] In another embodiment of the present invention, during a hand, if a player finishes his wallet, and no rebuy-in is allowed, then a side-pot is created, and the player is allowed to play for that part of the pot. [0045] In the embodiment of the present invention, all the raise that the player could match, will go into the side pot. [0046] In the embodiment of the present invention, all playing players, matched amounts paid till the last time the player going all-in played, will be moved into the side pot. [0047] In one embodiment of the present invention, all the extra raise that the player couldn’t match, will go into a new main pot. [0048] Thereafter, if a player has seen their cards, the players may ask for a sideshow. [0049] Further, if the sideshow is accepted, the hands of the two players involved are compared with each other and the player with the lower hand is forced to fold. [0050] In an embodiment of the present invention, if the hands are equal, the player that asked for the sideshow is forced to fold. [0051] In one embodiment of the present invention, if the sideshow is rejected, the game continues as it is. The bet remains in the pot as a matched play by the user. The user has no option to raise or fold that turn. [0052] In one embodiment of the present invention, the sideshow from the same player may be rejected to predefined maximum times (configurable). [0053] In one embodiment of the present invention, the game ends when every player except one has been eliminated through sideshow, has folded voluntarily, or doesn’t have any amount to call the last match. [0054] This together with the other aspects of the present invention along with the various features of novelty that characterize the present disclosure is pointed out with particularity. [0082] The method (50), at step (10) involves allowing the players to register in the said application (30) via a registration module (32) of the said application (30) (refer Figs. 1 & 2). [0083] Further, at step (12), the method (50) involves allowing the players to join a gaming table to play the said game. [0084] In an embodiment of the present invention, once the player joins the table for the first time, a slider is provided to allow the player to choose an amount for a wallet to sit on the table with. [0085] In the embodiment of the present invention, the game has a minimum buy-in and a maximum buy-in at the time of sitting at the table. [0086] In one embodiment of the present invention, in addition to the above embodiment, in the method (50) of the present invention, the players are allowed to buy up to the highest stack of the player on the table. [0087] More specifically, in various embodiments of the present invention, if there is a player on the table that has a stack higher than the table maximum, then another player may also rebuy/buy in chips up to that amount, thereby reducing the power of money stacks and allow players to have equal opportunities in the game to win their money back, thereby making the game becomes more skilled based. [0088] Further, the method (50) involves execution of an instruction by a processing module (310) of the application (30) to create a unique Hand identification (ID) for each player at step (14), which is unique for all hands. The said Hand ID is a combination of a unique table ID and a round ID (refer Fig. 1). [0089] At step (16), the method (50) involves executing an instruction by the processing module (310) to collect an ante amount from each of the plurality of players playing the game (refer Fig. 1). [0090] The term “Ante” is an amount that is collected before starting the game and put on the gaming table. [0091] Further, at step (18a), the method (50) involves executing an instruction by the processing module (310) for dealing a predetermined number of cards to each of the plurality of players playing the game (refer Fig. 1). [0092] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, each player is dealt three cards which are face down (refer Fig. 1). However, it should be understood that dealing of 3 cards should not be construed as a limitation to the present invention. Accordingly, players may be dealt with a higher number of cards (say four cards, etc.) as well. [0093] In one embodiment of the present invention, the game starts with a player sitting beside a dealer. [0094] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the game starts from the player sitting right of the dealer in an anti-clockwise direction. [0095] In the embodiment of the present invention, the application (30) includes a betting module (36) to bet in the said game. [0096] In one embodiment of the present invention, every player is assigned a timer for each turn. [0097] In another embodiment of the present invention, if the player’s turn timer expires, the player is provided with some extra time to make the move (reconnection timer). [0098] However, if the extra time also expires, the player’s card may get folded automatically. [0099] In one embodiment of the present invention, for all subsequent hands, the player cards may remain folded. [00100] In another embodiment of the present invention, the player is made to sit out of the gaming table until the player reconnects. [00101] In an embodiment of the present invention, each player at his turn might have few options similar to the options in a conventional poker game. The play may raise, call, match, or fold as a blind or seen player. [00102] In one embodiment of the present invention, the said system (100) includes a user interface module (34) that allows the players to view the game on a display of the computing device (90). (Refer to Fig. 2). [00103] In the embodiment of the present invention, the user interface module (34) allows the players to perform various actions via various tabs provided in the application (30). [00104] In the embodiment of the present invention, the tabs may include but not limited to Games format screen, Contest detail screen, gameplay screen (70), or the like. However, such orientation of the tabs is only exemplary and may be subject to alteration. [00105] In the embodiment of the present invention, the gameplay screen (70) includes various control buttons to perform the action such as match (3), pack (2), raise (4), sideshow (1), see cards (5), or the like (Refer Fig. 3). [00106] Again, referring to Fig.1, at step (20), the method (50) involves executing an instruction by the processing module (310) to conduct betting rounds among the plurality of players playing the game. [00107] Referring to Fig. 1, at step (22), the method (50) involves executing an instruction by the processing module (310) to open at least one card of the predetermined cards dealt to each of the plurality of players. [00108] In the embodiment of the present invention, the said instruction is executed after receiving the instruction from the at least one of the plurality of players via the user interface module (34). [00109] Further, the at step (24), the method (50) involves detecting the at least one player, via an identification module (38), whose at least one card of the predetermined cards is being opened. [00110] Further, the method (50) is followed by verifying the said at least one player, via a verification module (40), is the player whose at least one card is being opened at step (26) (refer Fig. 1). [00111] The method (50) further follows by executing an instruction by the processing module (310) for receiving the bets including an amount less than current on-going bets from the at least one player despite seeing at least one card of the predetermined cards dealt to the said at least one player as shown in step (27) (refer Fig. 1) [00112] More specifically, each of the plurality of players may play blind despite seeing at least one card of the predetermined cards dealt to the said at least one player. [00113] In the embodiment of the present invention, betting follows a no-limit betting. The rules of the no-limit betting are as follows: - minimum bet may start with the ante amount and may always be the last bet amount. - a raise may be any number more than 1.5 times (1.5x) the last bet. [00114] However, it should be understood that the above rules may also change. Therefore, such an explanation is only exemplary and not a limitation to the present invention. [00115] In one embodiment of the present invention, the players are allowed to bet in the game without seeing their cards i.e., to play blind. [00116] In a distinctive embodiment of the present invention, the players are allowed to play blind despite seeing at least one card of the said three cards. That is players may see one of the dealt cards, and without seeing the remaining cards (which are in folded position) may play their turn. [00117] In various embodiments of the present invention, after posting the ante and receiving the hole cards (cards face down), the player has the option (should they wish to exercise) to continue playing blind. [00118] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, playing blind may follow the rules as shown below:- - there is no limit to the number of blind bets the player may play. - the player may not ask or be asked to a sideshow when on blind. However, this should not be construed as a limitation of the invention. In another embodiment, the player may ask for the sideshow when on blind. - the player pays half the previous bet to match and continues the game. - the player is allowed to raise up to predefined fixed percentage of the player’s current stack (to be made configurable, the ability to raise as well as the amount). [00119] Accordingly, such rules bring a factor of making the three-card game much more skill-oriented and less based on chances. [00120] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the player may raise up to 33% of the previous bet or call/match half the previous bet, or may fold the cards. [00121] In one embodiment of the present invention, at step (18b), the method (50) involves executing an instruction by the processing module (310) to deal with at least one community card for each of the plurality of players prior to conducting betting rounds. [00122] The “community cards” are the cards being dealt for each of the plurality of players to use. [00123] In various embodiments of the present invention, once all the players match their bets, two community cards are opened. [00124] The feature of “community cards” is a unique feature and adopted in the game, which enables a higher level of probability to have a good hand for the player, thereby ensuring players have more options and may also calculate possible hands of opponents. [00125] More specifically, two community cards are dealt open by the dealer in the middle of the table that may be used by each player to make the best hand. [00126] However, the dealing of two community cards should not be construed as a limitation of the instant invention. In another embodiment, more than two community cards may also be dealt for the use. [00127] In one embodiment of the present invention, once the community cards are open, the betting resumes with the player who played the last raised bet. [00128] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, here, all the players are automatically deemed seen, and blind rounds are over. [00129] Once the community cards open, the minimum bet will be the last bet amount before the cards have been opened. [00130] In one embodiment of the present invention, once the community cards are open, the best hand is 3 out of 6 cards in any combination. [00131] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the use of the community cards is explained with reference to Figs. 5A-5C in below description. [00132] In the said exemplary embodiment of the present invention, three community cards have been dealt open as shown in Fig. 5A, by the dealer in the middle of the gaming table. [00133] In the said embodiment of the present invention, the Player A has three cards (ref Fig. 5B) and Player B has three cards (ref Fig. 5C) [00134] Here, Player A may combine two of his cards i.e., Ace of hearts and Ace of diamonds with one of the community cards i.e., Ace of spades to complete the hand. [00135] Similarly, Player B may combine one of his cards i.e., four of spades with two of the community cards i.e., three of diamonds and five of hearts to complete the hand. [00136] In this case, since the combination of three out of the six cards for Player A will have high ranking as compared to player B, therefore player A will win the pot. [00137] In one embodiment of the present invention, the players have the option to see their cards before betting. [00138] In another embodiment of the present invention, the cards may be auto seen to the players once blind is no longer an option. [00139] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, once the rest of community cards open up, the player may no longer play blind. [00140] Further, at step (28), the method (50) involves executing an instruction by the processing module (310) to receive bets from the plurality of players via the betting module (36). [00141] More specifically, the present invention allows the processing module (310) to execute the instruction to receive the bet/s based on the at least one community card and the at least one card seen by the said at least one player of the plurality of players, thereby allowing the said at least one player to play the said game based on skills rather than chance as shown at step 28 (refer Fig. 1). [00142] In the embodiment of the present invention, the said bets received from the plurality of players are based on the cards dealt to the said players. [00143] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, in case the player has seen cards, the player may raise by 1.5 times (1.5x) of the previous bet amount or any amount higher in multiples of 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x & 10x or may fold. [00144] In one embodiment of the present invention, if the players do not have the required amount for betting, the players are allowed to rebuy the amount to fill the wallet required to continue the game. [00145] More specifically, rebuying the amount follows the predetermined rules as shown below: - each lobby has a minimum and a maximum amount at the start. The player has to take a seat adhering to these limits. - after each hand, the amount in the wallet is checked. If the player has lower than the required amount as mentioned above, the player is asked to rebuy in order to continue playing the lobby and is made to auto-sit out until he/she does so. - during a hand, no rebuy-in is allowed. [00146] In one embodiment of the present invention, the said computer-implemented method (50) further includes executing an instruction to identify at least one all-in player during the game via the identification module (38). [00147] Therefore, to overcome this issue, a unique feature “side-pot” is introduced in the game. This feature may be offered in multiple variations. [00148] In the embodiment of the present invention, if the player finishes his/her wallet, the “side-pot” is created using a predefined algorithm via a pot creation module (40) of the system (100), and the all-in player is allowed to play for that part of the pot without the ability to bet further in the hand. [00149] In the embodiment of the present invention, the side-pot is added with a total amount bet by the at least one all-in player and a predetermined amount matched by other players playing the game. [00150] In the embodiment of the present invention, the predetermined amount is matched with the total amount bet by the at least one all-in player. [00151] In the embodiment of the present invention, the other players are one or more active players who have an amount left for betting in the game. [00152] More specifically, the exemplary rules of side-pot for illustrative purpose, are as follows: - if the player cannot match the previous bet, the player has no option to act. - all playing players’ matched amounts paid till the last time the player going all- in played, will be moved into the side pot. - all the extra raises that the player couldn’t match, may go into the new main pot created by the pot creation module (40) for the one or more active players. - all the raise that the player could match, may go into the side-pot created. - the matching is only with respect to the bets made from the last time the player bet till the next time the player’s bet comes. [00153] Again, referring to Fig. 1, at step (29), the method (50) involves executing an instruction to determine an outcome of the game based on the comparison of the cards of the plurality of players via an outcome determination module (46) of the application (30), and rewarding the player/s winning the game based on the outcome of the game. [00154] In an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the player’s cards are matched to the final winning player of the hand and depending on who has better cards, may win the side-pot which is created. [00155] The exemplary illustration of the side-pot for illustrative purposes is as follows: [00156] Referring to the below Tables 1 & 2, in the betting round 4, a player (say named Akash) bets Rs. 1000/-. Next, since another play (say Naresh) was short of money and couldn’t match or raise the previous bet, he bets only Rs. 370/- and a side-pot has been created. [00157] In the embodiment of the present invention, bet made by Naresh has been placed into the side-pot and matching amount by Akash has been also placed into the side-pot and rest of the amount i.e., Rs.630/- has been placed into the main pot. [00158] Similarly, matching amount of Rs.370/- by Usman and Rahul has been placed into the side-pot and rest of amount i.e., Rs. 30/- has been placed into the main pot. [00159] Also, since Sani is playing Blind, therefore his matching amount will be half the previous bet i.e. Rs. 185/-. This Rs. 185/- has been placed into the side-pot and rest of the amount i.e. 15 is placed into main pot. Table -1 Table -2 [00160] In the embodiment of the present invention, the player that has gone all-in, may not be called to a sideshow. [00161] The “sideshow” is the feature of the game in which the cards of two players compare with each other, if any one player asks for sideshow, in which the player with the lower hand is forced to fold. [00162] In an embodiment of the present invention, the sideshows follow the exemplary rules as described below: - sideshows may only be done with the last seen player playing before a player. Sideshows may not be asked by players playing blind. The blind players may be skipped. - if the hands are equal, the player that asked for the sideshow is forced to fold. In the case that all players left have gone all-in, then the pot will be split since technically, no player called for the side-show. - the opponents compare the hands, and the loser will be folded. The winner will continue the game. The bet made for this is added to the side-pot. - the sideshow may be asked by the player who first play the previously bet amount and then ask for the sideshow. The outcome for the two situations is as below: i. if the sideshow is rejected, the game continues as it is. The bet remains in the pot as a matched play by the player. The player has no option to raise or fold that turn. ii. if the sideshow is accepted, the cards are compared, one person’s hand is folded, and the game continues. - sideshows may not attract an extra payment. - the player may not ask for a sideshow if he’/she does not has the required money to call the bet. In such a case, as mentioned above, the side-pot is automatically be created. - the player may only reject a sideshow from the same player predefined fixed number of time (configurable) in the game. After that, the sideshow request is automatically accepted. - if only two players are left, then sideshows may be automatically accepted. - the player may not raise and ask for the sideshow. The player may only ask for the sideshow when he/she has matched the previous bet. - if the community cards haven’t opened, the best hand are the three cards in the players’ hand. [00163] In the embodiment of the present invention, the sideshows follow the below ranking. - Trail or Set (3 of a kind): Three cards of the same rank (refer Fig. 4A). - Pure sequence (Straight Flush): Three consecutive cards of the same suit (refer Fig. 4B). - Sequence (Run): Three consecutive cards but not from the same suit (refer Fig. 4C). - Color (Flush): Three cards of the same suit that are not in a sequence, with the highest card winning in case of a draw (refer Fig. 4D). - Pair (2 of a kind): A pair of 2 cards of the same rank, the highest-ranking 3 rd card wins in case of a draw (refer Fig. 4E). - High Card: When two players share a common high card, then the rest of the cards are compared based upon their values (refer Fig. 4F). [00164] In one embodiment of the present invention, the method (50) further involves continuing the game until the game is provided with winner/s. [00165] In one embodiment of the present invention, the game continues until all the players except one have been eliminated through sideshow, folded voluntarily, or don’t have any money to call the last match. [00166] In another embodiment of the present invention, in case where the players keep betting the same amount again and again, not calling for the sideshow and not raising. [00167] Therefore, to challenge this, if two rounds of betting have happened without a single raise, all hands are opened with the pot being split between the winners (if multiple). This makes the game more skill dependent. [00168] In various embodiments of the present invention, at any point during the game, the player may choose to sit out, if the player is in the hand or he/she is folded from the hand. [00169] In an embodiment of the present invention, the player is allowed to sit out from the table for limited for e.g., 7 minutes, post which he/she will be forcefully exited from the table, which requires a reconfirmation from the player. [00170] In one embodiment of the present invention, once the player has sat out, he/she may choose to sit back on the table. In case, if a hand is active, the player is allowed to join from the next hand, which requires a reconfirmation from the player. [00171] In another embodiment of the present invention, the player may choose to leave the table at any point. [00172] In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the player may “check mark” to auto-pack his/her hand while other players are playing. Advantageous effects of the present invention [00173] In one embodiment of the present invention, the computer implemented method and system of the present invention provide minimum lower raise, strategic betting, tiered raise structured, equal opportunities to win and better user experience. [00174] Further, the community cards are provided in the present invention, enabling player higher level of probability to have a good hand for the player as well as to predict the possibilities of another player’s hand through application of strategy, memory and analytical skills. [00175] Furthermore, multiple rounds enable the player to make decisions regarding their hand and possibilities including without limitation, dropping the cards or placing an equal/higher/no bet. [00176] The present invention also allows the creation of side-pots to ensure that money bullying may not happen, and a player may play and win the amount bet by him/her regardless of the fact that the player doesn’t have the total amount bet. [00177] Further, the betting system in the game of the present invention is improvised, and thereby allowing the players to use their skills while betting to win the pot. [00178] In addition, in the present invention, player is allowed to see one card and still may considered blind. This gives the player an edge as he/she may make better decisions based on the strength of his/her hand. [00179] Further, the present invention offers a minimum lower raise, which enables the players with smaller pots also to be a part of the action and make a skilled play of raising the bet. [00180] Furthermore, the present invention allows a unique tiered raise structure which ensures the betting is strategic, yet not confusing for players. [00181] Additionally, the present invention allows the players to buy up to the highest stack of a player on the table. This means that if there is a player on the table that has a stack higher than the table maximum, another player may rebuy/buy in chips up to that amount. This is done to further reduce the power of money stacks and allow players to have equal opportunities in the game to win their money back. [00182] Also, sideshows must be accepted the third time further removing money power and luck from the game. Only blind players cannot be called into a sideshow. [00183] In nutshell, the method for playing card games as disclosed in the present invention requires skills of the players to use unique features of the game to strategically play the said game.
