Abstract:
Provided is a method for conducting decarburization refining of molten steel under reduced pressure, the method making it possible to accurately estimate the carbon concentration in molten steel and to determine the end of decarburization refining at a suitable timing when the molten steel is subjected to decarburization refining using vacuum degassing equipment.　A method for conducting decarburization refining of molten steel under reduced pressure according to the present invention includes an oxygen-supply decarburization process and a rimmed decarburization process, wherein: a decarburization amount in the oxygen-supply decarburization process is estimated using operation data from the start time and the end time of the oxygen-supply decarburization process; an estimated value for the carbon concentration in the molten steel at the start time of the rimmed decarburization process is derived on the basis of the estimated decarburization amount; the change over time in the carbon concentration in the molten steel during the rimmed decarburization process is calculated, with the derived estimated value being used as the carbon concentration in the molten steel at the start time of the rimmed decarburization process; and the end time of the rimmed decarburization process is determined on the basis of the calculated change over time in the carbon concentration in the molten steel during the rimmed decarburization process.
