Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a communication technique for convergence between an IoT technology and a 5G communication system for supporting higher data transmission rate than a 4G system, and a system thereof. The present disclosure may be applied to intelligence services (e.g., smart homes, smart buildings, smart cities, smart cars or connected cars, healthcare, digital education, retail businesses, security and safety related services, etc.) on the basis of a 5G communication technology and an IoT-related technology. According to an embodiment of the present discourse, a method of a terminal in a communication system may comprise the steps of: receiving, from a base station, at least one segmented radio resource control (RRC) message including a part of an RRC message which has a size larger than a preconfigured size; storing the at least one received segmented RRC message; identifying that a radio link failure (RLF) has occurred with respect to the base station; and discarding the stored segmented RRC message upon the occurrence of the radio link failure.
