Abstract:

In order to form a surface layer that has superior corrosion and erosion resistance and is useful for being applied to corrosion/erosion resistant components, this method forms a surface layer containing an Si component at the surface of a workpiece (2) in the range of 3-11 wt% and forming an amorphous structure having a thickness of 5-10 µm by using an electric discharge surface processing that causes the transfer of an electrode material to the workpiece by repeatedly generating a pulsed electric discharge between an electric discharge surface processing electrode (1), which has Si as the primary component, and the surface of the workpiece (2).
