Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a conjugated aromatic compound, which is characterized in that an aromatic compound (A), wherein one or two leaving groups selected from a group comprised of an iodine atom, bromine atom and chlorine atom are bonded to an aromatic ring, and wherein a carbon atom adjacent to a carbon atom to which said leaving group is bonded does not have (c1) a group represented by formula (10) (10) (with A1 in the formula representing a C1-20 alkoxy group or the like), (g1) a C1-20 alkyl group which may be substituted by a fluorine atom or the like, or (h1) a C2-20 acyl group which may be substituted by a fluorine atom or the like, is reacted with another aromatic compound (A) having the same structure as the aforementioned aromatic compound (A) or an aromatic compound (B) having a structure different from that of the aforementioned aromatic compound (A), wherein one or two leaving groups selected from a group comprised of an iodine atom, bromine atom and chlorine atom are bonded to an aromatic ring, and wherein a carbon atom adjacent to the carbon atom to which said leaving group is bonded does not have the aforementioned (c1), (g1), or (h1), in the presence of (i) a nickel compound, (ii) a metal reductant, (iii) at least one ligand (L1) selected from a group comprised of: a 2,2'-bipyridine compound having at least one electron-attracting group and not having a substituent group at the 3-position, 6-position, 3'-position and the 6'-position; and a 1,10-phenanthroline compound having at least one electron-attracting group and not having a substituent group at the 2-position and the 9-position, and (iv) at least one ligand (L2) selected from a group comprised of: a 2,2'-bipyridine compound having at least one electron-donating group and not having a substituent group at the 3-position, 6-position, 3'-position and the 6'-position; and a 1,10-phenanthroline compound having at least one electron-donating group and not having a substituent group at the 2-position and the 9-position.
