Abstract:
According to the present invention, an oriented electromagnetic steel sheet is manufactured by: heating, at a temperature of at least 1,300ºC, a steel slab containing, in terms of mass%, 0.02-0.10% of C, 2.5-5.5% of Si, 0.01-0.30% of Mn, 0.0010-0.040% of S, and 0-0.040% of Se; then hot-rolling the steel slab; annealing the hot-rolled sheet, if necessary; performing cold-rolling once, or at least twice with intermediate annealing therebetween to obtain a cold-rolled sheet having the final sheet thickness; performing primary recrystallization annealing including decarburization annealing; applying an annealing separation agent onto the surface of the steel sheet; and then performing finish annealing. When said oriented electromagnetic steel sheet is manufactured, the slab-side temperature T at the start of rough rolling during the hot rolling is set to at most a temperature Te defined by expression (1) of Te=-120,000 [%S]2+1,400, and width reduction is performed after at least one pass of the rough rolling, thereby effectively preventing edge cracks occurring in the hot rolling.
