Abstract:
This method for manufacturing a polarizer includes: a wet extension step for manufacturing a long belt-like polarizer by dyeing a long belt-like hydrophilic polymer film with a dyeing solution and extending the polymer film; a drying step for drying the polarizer; and a conveyance step for conveying the dried polarizer through a plurality of guide rollers. In the polarizer conveyance step, a concave roller 611 having a shape monotonously increased in diameter from the width-direction center toward the width-direction opposing ends is used as at least one of the guide rollers 61. With the polarizer manufacturing process using the wet extension method, the dried polarizer becomes insusceptible to defects such as wrinkles.
