Abstract:
Provided are a method for measuring the concentration of an optically active substance and a device for measuring the concentration of an optically active substance, which can easily and accurately measure the concentration of an optically active substance in an aqueous humor. The method comprises: a first step for irradiating the aqueous humor of an eye with incident light, which is polarized light, and measuring the polarization state of the reflected light obtained as a result of reflection at the interface between the aqueous humor and a crystalline lens, the irradiation being performed with a first incident light so that an angle formed by the incident light and a normal line at a point where the incident light intersects the surface of the crystalline lens is less than the Brewster angle, and the polarization state of a first reflected light being measured; a second step for irradiating with a second incident light so that the angle of the incident light is equal to or greater than the Brewster angle and measuring the polarization state of a second reflected light; a third step for calculating the angle of optical rotation of the aqueous humor by using information on the polarization state of the first reflected light and information on the polarization state of the second reflected light; and a fourth step for calculating the concentration of an optically active substance in the aqueous humor from the angle of optical rotation of the aqueous humor.
