Abstract:
Provided is a technology which improves the yield rate of added Al without increasing vacuum refining costs. Also provided is a method for producing a steel material which has little Al component quantity variation. This deoxidizing/refining method for molten steel which uses a vacuum refining device involves adding an Al-containing substance to molten steel inside a vacuum chamber, and executing molten steel deoxidation and refining in a manner such that the temperature changes ΔT1 and ΔT2 in the molten steel during Al deoxidation satisfy formula (1). The added Al-containing substance preferably has an Al content of 30-80 mass%. Thus, it is possible to produce a steel material having an Al concentration range of 0.02 mass% or less following the deoxidation step, with said molten steel deoxidizing/refining method as the deoxidation step. (1): ΔT1+ΔT2<0; ΔT1 represents the increase in temperature caused by oxidation reaction heat, and ΔT2 represents the decrease in temperature caused by the sensible heat from the added Al-containing substance.
