Abstract:

A method of preparing a metal base for a memory disk, wherein coining is performed by placing a metal blank material (6) between two dies having smooth working surfaces within a metal mold (3) which confines the spreading of the blank material, using a mandrel (4) when required, and controlling pressing force, reduction ratio of plate thickness, surface roughness of the blank material and quantity of lubricant applied.
