Abstract:
Provided is a method for efficiently producing 4,5-dialkoxy-2-hydroxybenzoic acid from low-cost starting materials.
Specifically provided is a method for producing 2-bromo-4,5-dialkoxy benzoic acid represented by general formula (2) (wherein R1 and R2 are as described below), which is characterized by having bromine react with 3,4-dialkoxy benzoic acid represented by general formula (1) (wherein R1 and R2 each independently represents a lower alkyl group) in concentrated hydrochloric acid.
