Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for commercially producing an aminoalcohol derivative (I) having a biphenyl group. Also disclosed are a biphenyloxyacetaldehyde derivative used therefor, a method for producing such a biphenyloxyacetaldehyde derivative, and an intermediate compound used for such a method for producing a biphenyloxyacetaldehyde derivative. Specifically disclosed is a production method comprising a step for forming a 3-substituted biphenylcarboxylic acid derivative represented by the general formula (4) below by reacting a 3-fluorobiphenylcarboxylic acid derivative prepared from a 3-fluorobiphenylcarbonitrile derivative, which is obtained by reacting a 4-halophenol derivative and a 2-fluorobenzonitrile derivative substituted with a leaving group at position 4, with an organic metal reagent.
