Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a novel agent which comprises a component contained in a cactus, with the use of a solid fraction obtained in a step wherein the cactus is subjected to solid/liquid separation. To solve this problem, provided are a method for producing an antioxidant or a hair growth stimulant, said method being characterized by comprising a step wherein a cactus is subjected to solid/liquid separation by heating and reducing pressure while maintaining the temperature of the cactus within a range of 10-55°C inclusive without adding a solvent to thereby give a solid component, and an antioxidant or a hair growth stimulant produced by this method. Preferably, the method further comprises a step for extracting a water-soluble component from the solid component using water. Preferably, the cactus is crushed and agitated with stirring blades and the solid/liquid separation is carried out under thus crushing and agitating. The cactus is preferably a cactus belonging to at least one genus selected from among the genera Parodia, Notocactus, Cereus and Opuntia.
