Abstract:
A method for producing indene, which comprises a dehydrogenation step wherein a starting material gas containing indane and molecular hydrogen is brought into contact with a dehydrogenation catalyst, thereby obtaining a reaction product that contains indene. This method for producing indene is configured such that: the dehydrogenation catalyst comprises a carrier containing aluminum and a supported metal that is supported by the carrier; the supported metal contains a group 14 metal element and platinum; and the atomic ratio of the group 14 metal element to the platinum in the dehydrogenation catalyst is 8.0 or less.
