Abstract:
Disclosed is a commercially advantageous method for producing optically active alcohols which is applicable to a compound that is unstable to acids. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing an optically active alcohol compound represented by the following formula (II): (wherein R1, R2 and R3 are as defined in the formula (I) below, and * represents an optically active carbon atom) by reacting a compound represented by the following formula (I): (wherein R1 represents an optionally substituted alkyl group or the like, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or the like, and R3 represents a hydroxyl group or the like) with hydrogen in the presence of an optically active hydrogenation complex catalyst. This method is characterized by addition of an inorganic salt.
