Abstract:
Provided is a silicate phosphor produced using a method which involves firing, in a reducing atmosphere, a raw material mixture that contains a silicon compound, a strontium compound and a barium compound at proportions whereby a strontium barium silicate is produced, that further contains a europium compound, and in which two or more halides selected from among the group consisting of fluorides, chlorides and bromides are present. In comparison to a silicate phosphor produced using a method which involves firing in a reducing atmosphere a raw material mixture in which one type of halide is present, this silicate phosphor exhibits higher external quantum efficiency for light in the wavelength range of ultraviolet light to blue light.
