Abstract:
The present application discloses a method for requesting a monitoring state and a related apparatus. The method for requesting a monitoring state comprises: a terminal device sends a first request message to a network device, the first request message being used for requesting to enter a low-power receiver state; the terminal device receives a first response message of the network device, the first response message being used for instructing the terminal device to enter the low-power receiver state. Thus, by introducing the request message of the terminal device, the terminal device can request a network when having an energy saving requirement, so as to assist the network in determining that the terminal device enters the low-power receiver state, finally, the purpose of saving energy of the terminal device is achieved, and the problem of when the terminal device enters the low-power receiver state is solved.
