Abstract:
A method of starting the MBMS session, the method includes: 1) The broadcast multicast-service center (BM-SC) sends the session start request to the service GPRS supporting nodes (SGSN) through the gateway GPRS servicing node (GGSN); 2) After receiving the session start request from the GGSN, the SGSN sends the MBMS session start request to the base station controller (BSC)/radio network controller (RNC); 3) After receiving the MBMS session start request from the SGSN, BSC/RNC determines whether create the bearing platform of this MBMS session or not, if yes, activate the MBMS bearing context, and perform step 4); if not, finish; 4) BSC/RNC creates wireless resources using to transmit MBMS data to the user equipment. Applying the method of this invention could optimize the performance of the system, reduce the waste of interface resources, and reduce the complexity of the system process.
