Abstract:

A method of wood processing that while realizing a variety of woodgrain patterns, ensures easy shaping and attains an increase of strength. Accordingly, in a steam environment of temperature and pressure both higher than those of atmospheric air, a first wood with configuration involving a curved surface and a second wood in planar form wherein most of contained fiber ingredients are oriented in the direction approximately parallel to the surface are superimposed on each other and compressed together. In the steam environment, the second wood may be deformed. At the time of this deformation, it is preferred that compressive force be applied to the second wood in the direction perpendicular to the thickness of the second wood and approximately perpendicular to the direction in which most of fiber ingredients contained in the second wood are oriented.
