Title:
MICROORGANISM ISOLATED FROM TENEBRIO MOLITOR LARVA AND HAVING PLASTIC DEGRADING ACTIVITY, AND METHOD FOR DEGRADING PLASTIC USING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2018/143750
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention provides a microorganism isolated from the gut of Tenebrio molitor larva and having plastic degradation activity. A microorganism having plastic degradation activity according to the present invention can selectively or entirely degrade at least one plastic selected from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP), and polyethylene (PE) into low-molecular weight materials in an appropriate culture condition. Therefore, the microorganism having plastic degradation activity according to the present invention may be used in a pre-treatment process for plastic regeneration.
