The present application relates to: a yarrowia microorganism having the ability to produce carotenoid, or a material having carotenoid as a precursor, the microorganism expressing Geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthase that is derived from Dunaliella salina; a method for producing carotenoid, or a material having carotenoid as a precursor, using the microorganism; a composition for producing carotenoid, or a material having carotenoid as a precursor; and a use of producing carotenoid, or a material having carotenoid as a precursor, using a yarrowia microorganism or a culture of same.
