Abstract:
Provided in embodiments of the present invention are a mobility management method, access network control apparatus, and communication system. The method comprises: an access network control apparatus receives, via a first station, a location area request message of user equipment (UE), wherein the UE is located within a cell managed by the first station; the access network control apparatus configures, according to the location area request message, at least one location area identifier list for the UE, wherein the location area identifier list comprises at least one location area identifier used to identify a location area; and the access network control apparatus sends, via the first station, to the UE the at least one location area identifier list. The method enables mobility management of UE in an access network, reduces signaling exchanges between an access network and a core network, and decreases signaling loading of an interface, thus accelerating signaling response, and improving system performance.
