Abstract:
Provided is a monitoring device that is capable of effectively optimizing the transmission efficiency of an entire network. A monitoring device (1) has a variable parameter changing unit (2), a monitoring information acquisition unit (4), and an inference unit (6). The variable parameter changing unit (2) changes a variable parameter with respect to at least one of a plurality of network devices that constitute an optical communication network through which an optical signal is transmitted by wavelength division multiplexing. The monitoring information acquisition unit (4) acquires, from at least one of the plurality of network devices, monitoring information concerning the status of optical communication. The inference unit (6) uses the monitoring information to infer at least one penalty with respect to a receiving end.
