Abstract:
Disclosed is a motion vector detection method for implementing high-accuracy motion search even when a plurality of objects move in different directions. Specifically disclosed is a motion vector detection method for detecting a motion vector by executing motion search aimed at a search range within a reference picture, which includes an area motion vector determining step (S101) for determining a plurality of motion vector extraction areas from a targeted picture, and determining area motion vectors, and a search range setting step (S102) for setting areas, as the search range, including the positions determined by the area motion vectors with the position in the reference picture corresponding to the position of a macro-block in the targeted picture as the origin.
