Abstract:
The present application provides a multicast communication method and a communication apparatus. The method comprises: an access network device receives a first multicast data packet from a multicast user plane network element, the first multicast data packet comprising the multicast data of a multicast group; the access network device identifies, according to multicast source identification information, the multicast source of the multicast data as a first terminal device in the multicast group, the multicast source identification information being used for identifying the multicast source of the multicast group; and the access network device transmits the multicast data to other group members than the first terminal device in the multicast group. According to the present application, the access network device can identify, according to the multicast source identification information, that the multicast source of the multicast data transmitted to the multicast group is the first terminal device, thereby avoiding transmitting the multicast data to the first terminal device, and saving an air interface resource.
