Provided is a navigation device for implementing a charging method which, for an electric vehicle, eliminates the operations carried out by a user at a base such as a residence and makes it possible to extend the life of a power storage device. A navigation device (8) which can be mounted in an electric vehicle (6) comprising a power storage device (1) is provided with: a vehicle location information acquisition unit (17) for acquiring vehicle location information constituting the current location of the electric vehicle; a base location storage unit (24) for storing the base location of the electric vehicle; a vehicle information input/output unit (9) which acquires the amount of power remaining in the power storage device and sends charging instruction information to a charging device which charges the power storage device; a travelable distance calculation unit (10) for calculating information regarding the distance which can be travelled after charging, based on the amount of remaining power and the charging instruction information; and a user notification unit (14) for notifying the information regarding the distance which can be travelled after charging to the user if it has been detected that the electric vehicle has approached to within a predetermined range from the base location and/or the electric vehicle has stopped at the base location.
