In order to assist the selection of the communication method of a network applied in a user FA system, the present embodiment of a network selection assistance method is provided with: a condition display step (step S1) for displaying, at a condition input screen, one or a plurality of selection conditions determined ahead of time relating to the communication method of a network applied in an FA system; a condition reception step (step S2, Yes) for receiving the input of selection conditions that the user desires among the selection conditions displayed at the condition input screen; a communication method search step (step S3) for, by searching a communication method database, searching for communication methods that match the input selection conditions; and a communication method list step (step S4) for listing the communication method search results at a communication method list screen.
