Abstract:
A novel polypeptide having a $g(b)1, 3-galactose transferase activity participating in the synthesis of type 1 sugar chains; a DNA encoding this polypeptide; a recombinant vector containing this DNA; a transformant having this recombinant vector; a process for producing a sugar chain-complex carbohydrate containing the above polypeptide or a type 1 sugar chain by using the above polypeptide or the above transformant; an antibody recognizing the polypeptide; a method for detecting and quantitating the polypeptide by using this antibody; a method for screening a substance relating to the polypeptide; a method for diagnosing and treating digestive cancer by using the DNA or the antibody; and a method for treating digestive cancer by using a substance obtained by the above screening method.
