Abstract:
Provided is an operation input device with which false detection of a gesture operation occurs less frequently. This operation input device is characterized by comprising a substrate, a plurality of detection electrodes provided on a surface of the substrate, a detection unit that detects electrostatic capacitance between an operation body and each detection electrode resulting from the operation body approaching the substrate, and a determination unit that determines whether or not a gesture operation has been performed by the operation body, the detection electrodes including a first electrode and a second electrode, wherein, when the operation body is moved in a longitudinal direction, the electrostatic capacitance value of the first electrode decreases in accordance with the amount of the movement of the operation body, and the electrostatic capacitance value of the second electrode increases in accordance with the amount of the movement of the operation body, wherein if an operation of the operation body moving after having stopped or an operation of the operation body stopping after having moved is detected with respect to the detection electrodes, it is determined that a gesture operation has been performed by the operation body, and if changes in the sum and the ratio of the electrostatic capacitance value of the first electrode and the electrostatic capacitance value of the second electrode are less than or equal to predetermined values, it is determined that the operation body has stopped, which is a stop operation of the operation body.
