Abstract:
The present invention aims to provide an optical connector capable of reducing damage in an optical fiber and a production method for the optical connector. The optical connector (1) is provided with a fiber member (2), a ferrule (3), and a second protective member (7). The fiber member (2) comprises an optical fiber (21) and a first protective member (22) that is provided to a first region (R1) of the optical fiber, and covers the first region (R1). The ferrule (3) comprises a through hole (31a) through which a second region (R2) of the optical fiber (21) is inserted. The second protective member (7) is provided to a third region (R3) of the optical fiber (21) situated between the ferrule (3) and the first protective member (22). The second protective member (7) covers at least one part of the third region (R3) of the optical fiber (21).
