Abstract:
The present application provides an optical fiber and a manufacturing method therefor. The optical fiber comprises a core layer, an inner cladding layer, a depressed layer, an outer cladding layer, and a coating layer in sequence from inside to outside. The manufacturing method comprises: preparing a core layer, an inner cladding layer, and a depressed layer in sequence by using a VAD technology, and preparing an outer cladding layer by using an OVD technology, so as to obtain an optical fiber preform precursor; collapsing and cooling the optical fiber preform precursor to obtain an optical fiber preform; then performing melting and wire drawing on the optical fiber preform, and annealing same in an inert gas atmosphere, so as to obtain a bare fiber; and coating and curing the bare fiber to obtain an optical fiber. According to the present application, when the optical fiber preform is manufactured, the design of combining an inclined inner cladding layer with a wide recess and shallow fluorine doping is used, so that the refractive index difference between the core layer and the depressed layer is effectively reduced, the optical fiber has high strength, the bending resistance of the optical fiber is enhanced, and the bending loss is greatly reduced; the collapsed optical fiber preform uses a specific cooling technology and is naturally cooled in an inert atmosphere after undergoing melting and wire drawing, so that the internal stress of the optical fiber is further reduced, and the loss of the optical fiber is effectively reduced.
